3. The South Italian incuse coinages; joint project with the University of New South Wales and Mr R. Williams.

Publication of a research project on the nature and technology of the earliest coinages of South Italy.  This work developed from SNG Australia I and the publication of the Gale collection of South Italian coins (which includes almost 80 incuse pieces).  A program of scientific study with Prof. Paul Munroe, head of the Electron Scanning Microscope Unit at the University of New South Wales, and Dr Rick Williams (Parliament House Education Branch), who completed his doctorate on the incuse coinage of Kroton at Monash University in the 1980.

4. The Porinos Naos Project (in conjunction with Dr Richard Anderson, American School of Classical Studies and Dr Jari Pakkanen, Royal Holloway College, London University)

A study of the earliest known temple of Apollo on Delos.  A new architectural survey of the remaining walls is being prepared on the basis of fieldwork carried out in September 2009 . This study developed from earlier research into the early history and coinage of Delos.  It will examine the links between the Athenian tyrant Peisistratos and Apollo’s Cycladic sanctuary.

5. Alexander in Egypt (in conjunction with Assoc. Professor Boyo Ockinger, Macqaurie University).

This study is focused on the silver tetradrachms minted in Egypt in the name of Alexander the Great.  It proposes a new theory for the iconography of a key symbol (that of Ammon) which appears on the earliest issues.

6. The Early Attic Coinage Project (in conjunction with the Athens Numismatic Museum)

A new corpus and die-study of archaic Athenian coinage (c.550-480 BC). The project will involve Mr Gil Davis and Assoc. Professor Damian Gore (Macquarie University) annd the participation of the Athens Numismatic Museum through Dr P. Tselekas.  An agreement of cooperation has been officially endored by the museum director Dr. Evgenidou.  Images and data for this study is currently being collected.
